The search witnesses arrived after the police

Russian law requires at least two civilian attesting witnesses at a search. The protocol lists a neighbor and her son. In her own pretrial statement, the neighbor says the police came for her at about 6:30 p.m., when Travis "had been detained by the police." At trial she said, "Drugs were shown to me."

The protocol gives a location only for the powder on the table. It gives none for the bundle or the tablet, and records that no photograph or video was made. Asked in court whether the witnesses arrived before or after the drugs were found, the lead operative answered: "I was on adrenaline, at that moment I can't answer."
