As your constituent, I ask your office to write to the Secretary of State requesting a fresh review of Michael "Travis" Leake's case on the record, and to say his name when Americans held in Russia are discussed.

Travis, an American citizen and U.S. Air Force veteran from Bakersfield, California, has been held in Russia since June 6, 2023. He is serving 13 years at IK-6, a penal colony in Vladimir Oblast. His advocates have asked the State Department to designate him wrongfully detained under the Levinson Act. It has not, and no official has told his family why.

Anyone can check the court file. At trial, the witness behind the sale charges said police told her to report more than she had. Nothing seized was examined for fingerprints or DNA. A black iPhone police logged in the search of his apartment is missing from every evidence record that follows.
